Polar VIS Earth Camera Images

SuperMAG includes the entire catalog of images obtained by the Visible Imaging System (VIS) which was flown on the Polar Spacecraft. The images and the necessary software was generously made available by the VIS instrumentation team. In particular we are grateful for the help and support by Drs. Frank and Sigwarth and Mrs. Dvorsky. The VIS instrument consisted of 3 cameras. The Earth camera was equipped with one broad-band filter at far-ultraviolet wavelengths (filter had a peal transmission at 130 nm and a half-maximum full-width of the passband is 25 nm). Images are available with a repetition rate between 1 and 5 min depending on the mode. The image resolution is 256x256 pixels and the wide field-of-view provides observations of the entire Earth.

IMAGE FUV WIC Camera Images

SuperMAG includes the entire catalog of images obtained by the Far Ultraviolet Imager which was flown on the IMAGE Spacecraft. The images and the necessary software was generously made available by the FUV instrumentation team. In particular we are grateful for the help and support by Drs. Mende and Frey. The FUV instrument consisted of three detectors. The WIC camera was equipped with a ultraviolet wavelengths filter (spectral range between 140 nm and 160 nm). The repetition rate was 2 min depending on the mode. The image resolution is 256x256 pixels and the wide field-of-view provides observations of the entire Earth.
